Dies ist ein Ergebnis einer repräsentativen Umfrage der Forschungsgruppe Wahlen im Auftrag der Klimaschutzagentur Bremer Energie-Konsens und des Instituts für Informationsmanagement an der Universität Bremen (ifib). Mit einem auf zwei Jahre angelegten Forschungsprojekt soll jetzt die Handlungsbereitschaft der Bürger genauer erforscht werden.</span></strong><br> <br> Bereits jetzt handeln viele Bremer klimafreundlich  dies legen jedenfalls die Ergebnisse nahe: So achten rund 88 Prozent nach eigenen Angaben auf den Energieverbrauch, 79 Prozent verzichten auf Stand-By und 73 Prozent bevorzugen im Nahverkehr umweltfreundliche Verkehrsmittel. Jeder fünfte gibt an, Bio-Lebensmittel zu kaufen.  Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass die Bremer in vielen Bereichen schon sehr sensibilisiert sind , so Dr. Cornelis Rasmussen, Geschäftsführer der Bremer Energie-Konsens.  Sie zeigen aber auch die Diskrepanz zwischen Wissen und Handeln. So halten knapp 80 Prozent öffentliche Verkehrsmittel für eine wichtige Maßnahme zur Bekämpfung des Klimawandels, doch nur knapp 50 Prozent nutzen die Bahn für Fernreisen. <br> <br> Rund drei Viertel aller Befragten gaben an, dass sie bereit sind, weiter CO2 einzusparen. Jetzt soll erforscht werden, ob ein mehr an Information auch zu einem mehr an Handlungen führt und welche Informationswege dabei besonders gut funktionieren. Über zwei Jahre wird daher das ifib unter der Leitung von Prof. Dr. Herbert Kubicek in einem von der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft geförderten Projekt Bremerinnen und Bremer begleiten, die ihre CO2-Bilanz verbessern wollen. Gesucht werden dazu jetzt mindestens 400 Teilnehmer. Sie werden durch regelmäßige Informationen und Veranstaltungen von der Bremer Energie-Konsens mit praktischen Tipps zur Verkleinerung des CO2-Rucksacks versorgt. Auf den vierteljährlichen Seminaren bei verschiedenen BHKW-Objekten stellen Energieberater und Betreiber die grundlegende Technik, aktuelle Entwicklungen und Fördermöglichkeiten dar. In Borgfeld informierte Referent Heinz Eggersglüß umfassend über die technischen Parameter, die für einen wirtschaftlichen Betrieb eines BHKWs erfüllt sein müssen. Pflanzliche Lebensmittel haben eine deutlich bessere Klimabilanz als tierische. Deshalb hat die Bürgerstiftung mit Unterstützung der Bremer Energie-Konsens und vieler Anderer die Aktion  Veggiday ins Leben gerufen. Die Idee: Bremen isst vegetarisch  jeden Donnerstag.  Wir müssen zum Sonntagsbraten zurückkehren , sagt Dr. Cornelis Rasmussen, Geschäftsführer der Klimaschutzagentur und spielt damit auf den hohen Fleischkonsum von rund 89,7 Kilogramm jährlich pro Kopf in Deutschland an. Für tierische Produkte muss ein Vielfaches an Energie, Ackerfläche und Dünger aufgewendet werden als für pflanzliche. Insbesondere Rindfleisch ist äußerst klimarelevant, da Kühe große Menge von Methan freisetzen. Aber auch bei Obst und Gemüse sollte man auf die Herkunft achten. Um der Kostenspirale entgegenzuwirken, ist der sparsame und effiziente Einsatz von Energie die wichtigste Stellschraube. Im Rahmen des Modellprojekts Agrar++Effizienz  Energieprofit für die Landwirtschaft im Nordwesten  werden insgesamt zehn landwirtschaftliche Betriebe - Milchviehhaltung, Sauenhaltung, Schweinemast, Geflügelmast, Pferdehaltung und Gartenbau - auf ihre Energieeffizienz hin untersucht und bei der Umsetzung von Effizienzmaßnahmen begleitet. <br> <br> Erste Ergebnisse zeigen, dass in nahezu jedem landwirtschaftlichen Betrieb Energie eingespart werden kann: So wurden in großen Milchviehbetrieben Einsparpotenziale von bis zu 25 Prozent festgestellt. Dabei ist die Senkung des Energieverbrauchs nicht unbedingt mit einer Modernisierung und somit hohen Investitionen verbunden. Diese sollen dann in einkommensschwachen Haushalten beraten und auch direkt energiesparende Technik wie Steckerleisten und Energiesparlampen installieren. <br> <br> Gefördert wird das Projekt des Deutschen Caritasverbands und des Bundesverbandes der Energie- und Klimaschutzagenturen (ead) vom Bundesumweltministerium. In Bremerhaven kann das Projekt auf die Erfahrungen mit den  Umweltscouts und auf die Erfahrungen anderer Städte, darunter Bremen und Cloppenburg, aufbauen. Im Schnitt sank der Stromverbrauch in den beratenen Haushalten um 16 Prozent, die Kosten sanken um etwa 90 Euro pro Jahr. Für Ende 2010 ist die Unterzeichnung eines Memorandum of Understanding geplant, in dem das weitere Vorgehen festgelegt wird. <br> <br> Aus Sicht des Bundesverbandes Windenergie (BWE) ist es vernünftig, die mittel- und nordeuropäische Windkraft unter anderem mit der skandinavischen Wasserkraft intelligent zu vernetzen. Dies diene der Verstetigung des erneuerbaren Stromangebots und sei nicht nur für die Einbindung der Windenergie auf See, sondern auch für den Windstrom aus Anlagen an Land essentiell. Doch es gibt auch Zweifel am Projekt, etwa von Hermann Scheer, Präsident von Eurosolar e.V. Seiner Meinung nach stecke hinter dem Bauvorhaben die Absicht, den weiteren Ausbau der Windkraft in erster Linie auf Offshore-Anlagen und damit in die Hände der Energiekonzerne zu lenken. Dabei sei eine dezentrale Erzeugung für die Windkraft die volkswirtschaftlich attraktivere und betriebswirtschaftlich preiswertere Alternative. Klaus Lackner, deutscher Geophysiker und Direktor am Earth Institute der Columbia University in New York, hat diese Lösung für das Klimaproblem entwickelt. Containergroße Maschinen mit chemischen Filtern sollen das Treibhausgas aus der Luft ziehen  ähnlich wie Bäume, bloß tausendfach effizienter. Laut einem Bericht der Zeitschrift  Der Spiegel habe der Weltklimarat IPCC die Technik bislang weitgehend ignoriert. In jüngster Zeit äußerten sich jedoch immer mehr Forscher positiv zu der Technik. <br> <br> Außerdem könnten die sogenannten CO2-Fänger Emissionen kompensieren, die Autos und Kraftwerke vor vielen Jahren in die Atmosphäre ausgestoßen haben. Bislang könne das noch keine andere Technik. Laut Lackner habe die Kunst darin bestanden, ein Material zu finden, das Kohlendioxid binde, aber später ohne großen Aufwand wieder freigebe. Sein Team setze auf ein spezielles Kunstharz, das CO2 stark anziehe, wenn es trocken sei und bei Kontakt mit Feuchtigkeit leicht wieder abgebe. Am Ende könne das aufgefangene und abgepumpte Kohlendioxid in tiefe Gesteinsschichten eingelagert werden. Anfangs lägen die Kosten dieses Vorgehens bei etwa 300 US-Dollar pro Tonne Kohlendioxid. Langfristig würde sich der Betrag laut Schätzungen des Forschers aber auf 30 US-Dollar reduzieren. Lange Transportwege aber schaden der Umwelt: Treibstoffverbrauch und Kühlung während des Transports sorgen für eine schlechte Klimabilanz. Dabei gibt es genügend Lebensmittel aus der Region, die aufgrund kurzer Transportwege besser abschneiden. Um zu zeigen, was das heißt, haben sich die beiden Kanadier Alisa Smith und James MacKinnon ein Jahr lang nur von Lebensmitteln ernährt, die in einem Radius von 100 Meilen um ihre Wohnung produziert werden. <br> <br> Anfangs habe das Paar laut eines Berichts des Magazins  Der Spiegel an Hunger gelitten und an Gewicht verloren. Der Grund: Die Supermärkte boten kaum einheimische Lebensmittel an. Zudem hatten sie bis dahin noch keinen Kontakt zu örtlichen Farmern und Lieferanten aufgebaut. Ungenügende oder irreführende Angaben über die Herkunft der Lebensmittel in den Supermärkten bereiteten ihnen weitere Schwierigkeiten. <br> <br> Smith und MacKinnon verzichteten während der gesamten Zeit auf Schokolade, Bier, Zitronen, Salz, Reis, Olivenöl, schwarzen Tee und Kaffee. Zudem mussten sie sieben Monate ohne Mehl auskommen, bis sie einen Sack Getreide erhielten. Sie bauten ihr eigenes Gemüse an, lagerten Kartoffeln ein und konservierten frische Lebensmittel. Auch nach Ende des Experiments kehrte das Paar nicht zur konventionellen Nahrung zurück. Sie konsumieren seitdem zu 90 Prozent Lebensmittel aus der 100-Meilen-Zone.
